Quickstart Guide

  1. Install OS according to the iso_howto.html document
  2. Log in to the Control Panel with your web browser (example: https://192.168.1.10) user: admin password: password
  3. Navigate to the 'Storage Managment' tab
  4. Use the 'Partitions on Local Disks' utility to identify your physical disks or arrays
  5. Use 'Partitions on Local Disks' to create a primary partition or go to 'Logical Volume Management' to create Logical Volumes
  6. Use the 'Disk and Network Filesystems' utility to create a filesystem
  7. Choose 'SGI Filesystem (xfs), then click 'Add Mount'
  8. Enter a mount name (example: /public), then choose a Disk or LVM to mount to (don't select your OS drive)
  9. Navigate to the 'Networking' tab, then 'Samba Windows File Sharing'
  10. Choose 'Windows Networking', then enter a name in the 'Server Name' field. You can also assign a workgroup if you skipped this during the install. You may also enter a WINS server. (click save when finished)
  11. Back to the 'Samba Windows File Sharing' page, click 'Create a new file share'
  12. Enter a share name (example: public) and select a mount point (example: /public), then choose 'create'
  13. Click on the share from the share list and then set your share permission
  14. Navigate to the 'Control Panel' tab, then choose 'Users and Groups'
  15. Click 'Create new user', enter a user name and password, and decide if you want a home directory.
  16. From your Windows system you should now be able to find the server and see the share(s) in Network Neighborhood (Network Places)
